Our Story

At Consumer Lawyers US, we know what it’s like to be on the other side of the table. For nearly two decades, we represented major banks, lenders, and hospitals as debt collection attorneys. We thought we were simply doing our jobs—until one day, everything changed.

In 2008, we walked into court expecting just another default judgment. Instead, we met a mother who had drained her insurance and life savings to save her sick child’s life. That day, we realized that the “debts” we were collecting had real faces, real pain, and real consequences. It was a wake-up call. We set aside the judgment, walked out of that courtroom, and vowed never to collect debts against consumers again.

Shortly after, we helped a woman who was the victim of identity theft. Her credit report was in shambles, her financial future uncertain. Using the Fair Credit Reporting Act, we cleared her report—and watched her get her life back. In that moment, we found our calling: helping people fight back against creditor mistakes, stop debt collector harassment, and rebuild their financial lives.

Today, Consumer Lawyers US fights for consumers in every state. We fix credit report errors caused by bankruptcy, identity theft, and inaccurate reporting. Gary Nitzkin has been practicing law since 1990 and has dedicated his career since 2008 to standing up for consumers against credit bureaus, debt collectors, and those who abuse the system. He founded Consumer Lawyers US with one mission in mind—help people fix their credit, stop harassing collection calls, and restore their good name after identity theft. Known for his tenacity in the courtroom, Gary isn’t afraid to take a case to trial when defendants won’t play fair. Outside of work, he’s often found sailing, practicing karate, or golfing—always with the same drive and focus he brings to his clients’ cases.

A graduate of the University of Michigan, he pairs deep legal expertise with a passion for consumer rights, earning him a reputation as a rising star in the field.
